Overview of the Project:
This website has been developed under the National Service Scheme (NSS). The scheme encourages students to actively participate in social service and community development. Through awareness campaigns, health camps, and cleanliness drives, NSS helps instill a sense of social responsibility in students. This website is a step towards making useful information for Kalyan village easily and simply accessible.
The NSS unit of AISSMS College of Engineering has adopted Kalyan village, aiming to develop it as a tourism hub due to its proximity to Sinhagad Fort and the scenic Sahyadri mountain ranges.
The initiative focuses on sustainable development, improving infrastructure, and empowering the community through education, healthcare, and environmental awareness. A water percolation dam has been constructed to address the village's water issues, which in turn supports agriculture.
Ongoing activities include cleanliness drives, tree plantations, awareness sessions, and skill development workshops. These initiatives not only help in the holistic development of the village but also give students real-life exposure to the challenges and realities of rural areas.
All these activities are carried out with the support of the villagers, reflecting a collective vision of social responsibility, unity, and creating a self-reliant Kalyan village.

Activities Performed:
Empowering the Elderly Through Education:
One of our most heartwarming initiatives has been working with the elderly in the community to
enhance their literacy. Many of them had never had the chance to learn to read or write, and
through this program, we introduced them to the English alphabet and basic words. This activity
not only helped improve their literacy but also gave them a sense of empowerment and confidence.
By learning something new, these elderly individuals feel more connected to the world around
them, and this initiative has fostered a greater sense of inclusion, ensuring no one is left
behind in our journey towards progress. This small yet impactful step has created lasting
positive change in their lives, encouraging lifelong learning and personal growth.
Smashan Bhumi Cleaning: Honoring Tradition and Nature
Our initiative to clean and restore the Smashan Bhumi (Cremation Ground) aimed to bring respect
and dignity to this sacred space. By clearing overgrown vegetation and removing waste, we
created a cleaner, more serene environment for families who visit. This project not only
enhanced the space but also raised awareness about the importance of maintaining our
surroundings with care and reverence, fostering a deeper sense of responsibility within the
community.
Toilet and Bathroom Cleaning: Promoting Hygiene and Health
As part of our community initiative, we focused on improving sanitation by cleaning and
maintaining public toilets and bathrooms. This effort aimed to create a cleaner, healthier
environment for residents and visitors. By addressing this essential need, we not only improved
hygiene but also helped raise awareness about the importance of sanitation in promoting public
health and well-being.
School Activity: Engaging with Students and Fostering Growth
Our school activity focused on spending quality time with local students, engaging them in
educational games, and fostering creativity. By interacting with the children, we helped inspire
their learning and personal development, while also creating a sense of connection and support
within the community. This initiative aimed to promote education and encourage students to
pursue their goals with enthusiasm.
